During the first 45-60 minutes, the Mad Scientist will engage the children with amazing science demonstrations that are conducted with the help of your birthday child and guests. Some examples of experiments that may be included are: fitting a hardboiled egg into an impossibly small space, melting styrofoam, and seeing flash paper disappear. During the final 10-15 minutes of the party, the kids will make slime, silly putty or a bouncy ball to take home. Adding activities such as Bubbling Potions with dry ice or Cotton Candy will increase the length of your party by 15-20 minutes.
Our party schedule fills up quickly. We suggest that you book well in advance to get the date and time you want. Generally, at least 3-4 weeks in advance is recommended. We cannot book parties with less than 2 weeks advance notice.
You can call us at (877) 390-KIDS (5437) and we’ll be happy to schedule your party over the phone (Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). We require a $50 non-refundable booking fee to book your party. We accept Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
We book parties on the weekends, Saturdays and Sundays. There are set party times: 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. Some exceptions to these times may be made. Additional Fees May Apply. Please feel free to check on availability with our Party Coordinator.
No. All we need is an estimate of the number of children you expect to attend. We ask that you plan for the largest number of children expected. There’s no risk. On the day that your party is verbally confirmed (via telephone), we will help you determine the amount of supplies needed. Although you will be invoiced for this amount, you are charged only for the supplies that are used on the day of the party, corresponding to the number of kids that actually attend.
No, we do not offer themed parties. If you have a theme, we can notify the Mad Scientist, and he/she will do his/her best to incorporate your theme into the experiments and language used.
The Mad Scientist will arrive at least 15 minutes early to set up. He/she will be ready to start the show at the time you booked. It is advised that your party guests arrive to the party at least 30 minutes before your Mad Science show is scheduled, to ensure the Mad Scientist is able to start on time.
The Mad Scientist will need a small table (e.g. a 4 foot square table). We ask that you have enough space for the Mad Scientist and your guests to be comfortable as well. The kids can be seated on the floor or on chairs, several feet back from the table.
The Mad Scientist will need no less than an acre of open space to do the Rocket Launch activity. By open space, we mean no trees, backyards, buildings, private lots, or cliffs where our rockets may get lost. The bottom line is that we need to retrieve our rockets. If you are not sure you have a sufficient space, you can request the rocket launch and then the Mad Scientist will assess whether or not it is safe to launch the rocket on the day of the party. You will not be charged for the upgrade if the rocket cannot be launched safely.
In addition to the performance space and small table mentioned above, we require access to water for set-up and clean-up. Additionally, the Bubbling Potions add on requires access to HOT water. Some activities also require access to electricity. Please note these requirements when planning your party.
We need hot water to do the Bubbling Potions show. If the Mad Scientist does not have reasonable access to hot water then we cannot schedule this option for you.
Electricity is a requirement for the Indoor Fireworks and Lighting Show, the Laser Light Show, and Cotton Candy making. If you cannot provide access to an electrical outlet for the Mad Scientist, then we cannot schedule these shows for you.
This show is only available during the summer season. If you are planning a party anywhere between June 7th and September 8th, then this show is an option for you.
Any changes to your party must be scheduled no later than the day of verbal confirmation of your party (generally 5 days before the party date) and certainly no later than the Tuesday prior to the party date. Due to equipment issues, we cannot accommodate last minute changes.
The Mad Scientist will begin at the scheduled start time and continue until our portion of the entertainment is finished. We will not be able to stop for any other activities (e.g. food or cake). Please plan accordingly.
If it rains on the day of your party, the Mad Scientist will call to see if there is an alternate indoor location to conduct the party.
We do not provide personal contact information for any of our Mad Scientists. If you would like the Mad Scientist to call you on the day of your party, we can make a note for him/her to do so. Otherwise, our policy states that the Mad Scientist assigned to your party will contact you to verify and confirm driving directions prior to the party date.
Our parties are appropriate for 5-12 year olds. Younger and older siblings generally watch but do not actively participate in the party. Any guests older than 4 years old can make the take home project. Please keep in mind that we determine the final price of your party based on the number of guests that make the take home project.
A non-refundable $50 booking fee is required to reserve your party date and time. This booking fee must be received at the time you book your party (booking fee is included in your overall cost), and may be made using either VISA, Discover or MasterCard. If you later decide to change your party date, the $50 booking fee is transferable for up to one year. Booking fee cannot be refunded for cancelled parties.
